The Rondor Building in the old Chinatown neighborhood of Redlands was built in 1906 and used for storage of cars for the electric trolley. Later, it became the baggage area for the Santa Fe Railroad. Over the past 50 years the building has been used by various businesses. Escape Craft Brewing was recently given the green light to rehabilitate the building by the City of Redlands and the City has submitted the paperwork to have the building added to the National Register of Historic Places.
In conjunction with the design by Architectural Resource Group, Geocon provided geotechnical engineering consisting of infiltration testing and foundation recommendations, special inspection during rehabilitation efforts, and environmental consultation in the event that it is required. The construction is expected to be complete soon and a cold beer available immediately following.
Interesting fact: From the 1880s to 1920s Redlands old Chinatown was a town of about 400 to 500 railroad workers.
