Geocon served as the geotechnical engineer of record and performed testing and observation services during the grading of the proposed Summit View Apartments located in the City of Slymar, California. The proposed development, partnered with LA Family housing and the City of Los Angeles, helps give a home to homeless and disabled veterans There are a total of 49 units and include amenities such as a computer lab, fitness center, on-site laundry, community room, rooftop terrace, a dog park and is LEED certified.
The scope of our testing and observation services included, but were not limited to:
- Observation of earthwork operations, including grading of subgrade, and backfill of utility trenches, and retaining walls.
- Performed inspection and approval of all excavation bottoms prior to placing fill.
- Performed in-place density tests on the soil, base and asphalt-concrete materials placed and compacted.
- Observed and approved subdrain pipes.
- Performed laboratory tests to aid in evaluating the compaction characteristics of soil types used for fill.
- Prepared Site Plans and the final report of observation and testing services.
- Verified the suitability of import base.
