The $24 million Tenth Avenue Marine Terminal Redevelopment Plan supports San Diego’s specialty cargo including military equipment, wind energy parts, shipbuilding steel, automobiles, produce and dry bulk cargo. The first phase of the plan consists of demolition and site improvements of Transit Shed 1. Geocon provided testing and observation during removal of contaminated soils and old pile caps, reuse of existing concrete as aggregate base, and construction of storm drain and BMP’s at the site. While not a highly complex project, Geocon’s experienced field personnel won high praise from the Port on-site staff. The project was awarded the Award of Merit from the American Association of Port Authorities.
