I-10/Mount Vernon Avenue Overcrossing Replacement
Colton, California

Geocon was selected to work on the Interstate 10 and Mount Vernon Interchange Improvement project in the City of Colton, California. The San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA), Caltrans, and the City of Colton are developing the project to improve Mount Vernon Avenue over Interstate 10. Once constructed, the project will improve circulation during high-demand hours along Mount Vernon Avenue between East Valley Boulevard to the north and the I-10 eastbound ramps/Mount Vernon Avenue intersection to the south. Our familiarity and expertise in highway and roadway design allowed us to provide exceptional service on the project.

The project will replace the four-lane bridge with a six lane one; realign East Valley Boulevard and Mount Vernon Avenue; and construct reinforced concrete retaining walls, new pavements, drainage, utilities improvements, and relocation of a pump station associated with the proposed roadway improvements. Geocon has been performing geotechnical and environmental services throughout the project.

During the planning phase of the project, Geocon provided a preliminary and final foundation report, a preliminary and final geotechnical design report, and a materials report. For the environmental phase, Geocon provided an Initial Site Assessment (ISA), and an Aerial Deposited Lead (ADL) Environmental Study Report.

The ISA revealed the site to be assessed for ADL to assist in development management and disposal options, along with asbestos containing materials (ACM) and lead containing paint (LCP) assessments to obtain permits from the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD).
