Slaughterhouse Canyon
Lakeside, California

There were 48 aggregate mines in San Diego County in 1980 and that number has declined to fewer than 15 today resulting in longer hauls and higher prices.  Geocon has been working on the Slaughterhouse Canyon aggregate mine since 1985.  We performed the original feasibility study looking at aggregate quality and petrologic classification and continued over the years with slope stability studies, stormwater management and testing and observation during construction of batch plants and other equipment.  Geocon has also provided confirmation laboratory testing of aggregate characteristics for the past 20 years.

Interesting Fact: In 1887, an 80-room Victorian-style Inn was completed next to Lindo Lake to attract people to the new township, Lakeside.
