Mr. Reist began his engineering geology career when he joined Geocon in 1998, specializing in technically challenging projects within landslide prone formations, hard rock, and low strength soils. Troy leads a dedicated geotechnical and environmental team, that supports Geocon’s diverse clientele in the realm of large master planned communities, commercial properties, and downtown redevelopment projects. Mr. Reist’s cross-over experience working in both the environmental and geotechnical fields benefits Geocon’s private and public clients by bridging the gap between the two disciplines that are often handled by separate consulting firms.
Troy’s extensive hands-on experience includes “down-hole” logging of over 600 exploratory borings, the majority of which were in problematic geologic formations and landslide-prone areas. His dedication to expanding his knowledge and skill set has taken him around the world, where he has participated in technical workshops in countries such as Switzerland, Norway, Japan, and across the United States. In a testament to his commitment to growth, Troy obtained an MBA at the age of 49, enhancing his understanding of the business aspects of the company.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Troy enjoys spending time with his family and his “girls.” His interests include exploring new destinations, indulging in woodworking projects, cooking, and escaping to his “happy place,” Lake Cachuma in Santa Barbara, where he can rejuvenate and “resharpen the saw”.
