Senior-Level Geologist/Environmental Engineer/Environmental Scientist
Burbank, California

Geocon’s Los Angeles (Burbank) office has an opportunity for a highly motivated individual to assist with and manage environmental (hazardous substance and petroleum) assessment, investigation, and remediation projects (e.g., Phase I and II ESAs, PEAs, RAWs, RAPs, hazardous waste/materials management, and other related services) for a diverse group of public and private sector clients. The ideal candidate will have experience developing scopes of services, estimating costs, managing multiple projects and tasks, performing fieldwork independently, and supervising field personnel and subcontractors for a wide variety of property/facility types and contaminants. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a positive attitude, flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, and commitment to workplace health and safety.

Responsibilities: 

  • Advise and manage existing and new client relationships with a focus on outstanding client communication and service;
  • Prepare/review project scopes, schedules, budgets, and assessment reports needed to achieve project goals;
  • Develop workplans and coordinate and oversee site investigation field activities including subcontractors;
  • Facilitate and participate in meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and other project stakeholders; and
  • Provide direction, review, and support to staff assuring proper practices and techniques.

Experience/Requirements:

  • BS or MS in Geology, Hydrogeology, or Civil (Environmental) Engineering or related.
  • Professional Registration (PG, CEG, CHG, or PE) required.
  • Minimum 10 years in environmental consulting.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER and current 8-hour annual refresher certification.
  • Experience interacting with clients, functioning on cross-disciplinary teams, and managing subcontractors
  • Valid California driver’s license, current DMV printout, and vehicle for use to travel to various sites

Senior Project Geologist
Los Angeles and Irvine, California

Geocon has an opportunity in our Burbank and Irvine offices for a highly motivated individual seeking a senior project-level position to manage geotechnical and engineering geology projects throughout the Los Angeles and Southern California regions. We have a wide variety of public and private sector projects that range from fault hazard and slope stability investigations to tunnel instrumentation. The ideal candidate will have experience characterizing, evaluating, and solving complex geotechnical and engineering geology problems, designing and managing multiple project phases, and overseeing subcontractors and other field personnel. Job Description:

  • Review existing project data and requirements.
  • Prepare proposals, budgets, schedules, and reports needed to achieve project goals.
  • Conduct investigations to characterize and evaluate geologic & geotechnical conditions, and to identify geologic factors that could impact the design, construction, and/or long-term performance of engineered structures.
  • Install, maintain and monitor geotechnical instrumentation.
  • Perform client coordination and provide clear client communication
  • Attend client meetings, as needed.

Experience/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Geology
  • Professional Registration, PG required, (CEG preferred)
  • Minimum 7 years of experience.
  • Proficient in geologic field mapping, trench and downhole logging, and geotechnical logging and sampling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented with strong organization and multi-tasking skills
  • Valid California drivers’ license, current DMV printout, and vehicle for use to travel to various sites
  • Must be a good physical condition, able to lift 40 lbs.

Certified Asbestos Consultant
Los Angeles, California

Geocon, a full-service environmental and geotechnical consulting firm has an opportunity for highly motivated individuals seeking a project-level position to assist with environmental consulting projects for a wide variety of public and private sector clients. The ideal candidate will have experience performing asbestos containing materials and lead containing paint surveys, abatement monitoring, and environmental assessments. The desired candidate will also have the ability to perform independent hands-on fieldwork, and oversee subcontractors and other field personnel. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, willingness to learn, excellent communication skills, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative.

This position requires the appropriate California certifications and experience performing and overseeing asbestos, lead-based paint, and hazardous building-material surveys and abatement oversight/monitoring. Desired certifications include a Certified Asbestos Consultant and Lead Inspector/Assessor/Project Monitor. Individuals with California asbestos and lead experience and certifications are preferred. Experience with other environmental work such as Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and subsurface soil and groundwater investigations is a plus. The candidate should have a minimum of five years’ experience conducting and/or managing relevant projects, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work independently, and a willingness to occasionally work a flexible schedule.
