Special Inspector
San Diego, California

Geocon is a dynamic Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Services, Engineering Geology, and Construction Inspection firm with 9 offices throughout Northern and Southern California. We have an immediate need for a dedicated and professional Special Inspector for a wide variety of public and privately funded projects throughout the San Diego area. We are looking for a person with a positive attitude and who is organized, computer literate, detail-oriented, and works well under tight deadlines. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a willingness to travel, commitment to client service, professionalism, accuracy, and for whom workplace health and safety are imperative.

Experience/Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience
  • Caltrans certifications preferred but not required
  • ICC certifications (Concrete and Masonry required; Structural Steel and Bolting, Structural Welding, Fireproofing and Commercial Building Inspector preferred but not required)
  • DSA Masonry certification preferred but not required
  • CWI certification preferred but not required
  • IFC Firestop certification preferred but not required
  • Licenses: Valid California driver’s license and clean DMV record required for travel to and between job sites, and for transportation of specialized equipment such as nuclear gauges
  • Personal truck or SUV for use to travel to various sites
  • Must be able to pass a physical and routine drug tests
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a routine basis

Certified Payroll Coordinator
San Diego, California

Recommended Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Manage all aspects of compliance with CA Prevailing Wage rules and Certified Payroll Reporting which includes:o Calculating Prevailing Wage rates and Fringe Benefits for all employees.

    o Tracking DAS 140 and 142 submissions on all Public Works projects.

    o Making sure all One-Time Prevailing Wage Forms are completed as needed for projects.

    o Ensuring all certified payroll is completed and uploaded to CA DIR.

    o Take lead on process improvement endeavors, researching certified payroll software options and determining best options for Geocon.

    o Managing Certified Payroll staff to make sure reporting is done correctly and workloads are balanced across the team.

Education: High School Diploma, College Degree Preferred

Experience: 2 to 5 years of Prevailing Wage / Certified Payroll Reporting experience.

Physical Demands: This job generally is a hybrid position, 2-3 days in the office per week.

Expected Hours of Work: Generally Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm
