Employee Spotlight: Scott Brito Brings Board Game Hold’em High to San Diego Comic-Con

Our team is made up of people whose talents and interests go beyond their work at Geocon. For Scott Brito, GIT, one of those interests is board game design. He began studying game design in 2020 as a creative pursuit that brought together his skills in illustration, graphic design, psychology, and statistics. With the support of his Geocon colleague Adrian Escobar, the game “Hold’em High” began to take shape!

Over the next five years, Scott ran more than 200 playtests and made countless revisions to find the best way to turn poker into a board game. Play-testers include Geocon colleagues, Rich Mingeram, Ron Buckley, Andy Barnes, and Jenna Delong. His persistence led to Hold’em High being picked up by the publisher Barrel Aged Games.

Most recently, Scott showed the game at San Diego Comic-Con, where Cole Mikesell and Orion Adah joined him to demo and teach it to attendees. For Scott, Comic-Con was a step forward, with Hold’em High set to launch on Kickstarter next year.

Scott’s journey is an example of one of the things we appreciate about our team: the way people support each other, both at work and outside of work.

Well done, Scott!
