Senior Project Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Senior project engineer (PE/GE) to manage public works and land development projects from proposal through construction. Duties include analyses, project management, field exploration and observation.

Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm
Compensation Range: Competitive salary and benefits commensurate with registration and experience, pay range $104,000 to $145,600 annually, based on experience, proficiency, and registration.

Project Engineer or Geologist
Murrieta & Coachella Valley, California

We work on a variety of projects, including hillside grading for residential development, public agency infrastructure, high-density housing, new and innovative school campuses, science/commercial buildings, infill, mid-rise structures, parking structures, and major capital improvement projects, which help maintain public infrastructure.
Geocon’s Riverside County operations are seeking to add a project-level engineer or geologist to the team in the Murrieta office to work throughout Riverside County and southern California. The ideal candidate will have mastered the preparation of geotechnical investigation, as-graded geotechnical, and associated reports and letters. They will have mastered proposal preparation and budget control and have experience in independently managing various stages of geotechnical projects. Excellent communication is key, as is the ability to collaborate with other Geocon offices and follow procedures.
Recommended Experience/Requirements:
- Five or more years of experience in geotechnical project management
- B.S. and/or M.S. degree in Civil Engineering or Geology
- Preferred Licensed as a California Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Essential Functions:
- Lead and manage projects, including delegating tasks to available staff resources
- Perform technical review of non-complex geotechnical reports, addenda letters, and proposals
- Perform geotechnical engineering analyses, including vertical/lateral capacity of shallow and deep foundations, settlement analyses, liquefaction analyses, slope stability analyses, retaining wall recommendations, grading evaluation (knowledge of ground motion evaluations is a plus)
- Provide geotechnical recommendations for the design of private and public projects
- Oversee construction geotechnical services on a project-by-project basis
- Generate new work from existing and new clients, a plus
- Demonstrate good judgment and maturity; knows when to apply professional judgment without supervision
Physical Demands: This job is primarily in a professional office environment, but given the nature of our work, there will be occasions when field time is necessary. Requires the ability to lift 20-pound samples or equipment.
Expected Hours of Work: Generally Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm; hybrid schedule of in-office and work from home.
Compensation Range: Competitive salary and benefits commensurate with experience, pay range $97,760 to $130,000 annually, based on experience and proficiency.

Environmental Geologist/Engineer

- Perform environmental site assessments (Phase I and II ESAs)

- Assist in the development of laboratory testing programs
- Complete test trench and boring logs, prepare geologic cross-sections, maps, and other illustrations
- Preparation of reports of findings
- Assist in the preparation of remedial alternatives evaluations, cost estimating, remedial action plans, community participation plans, etc.
Experience/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or Engineering
- Professional Registration (PE or PG) preferred
- Graduate level education preferred but not required
