The Sperbeck Quarry is a primary producer of rip-rap and armor rock for levee improvement projects in the northern Sacramento Valley. The California State Mining and Geology Board (SMGB), who provides regulatory oversight for the quarry, was concerned about slope stability and other issues at the site. The quarry operator also wanted to update its reclamation plan to reflect changes in quarry operations. Geocon worked with the operator and the SMGB to prepare a slope stability assessment, modify the operator's mining plan to maintain acceptable slope configurations, address other regulatory concerns, and prepare an amended mine reclamation plan for the site. Geocon is currently retained by Sperbeck Quarry on an on-call basis to address geotechnical and environmental issues in a proactive fashion so they do not become compliance issues for the quarry.
