Neurocrine Biosciences CenterSan Diego, California
The Neurocrine Biosciences Complex is located in the Carmel Valley area of San Diego. We performed a geotechnical investigation for the three- to four-story science buildings including two subterranean parking garages, circular cafeteria, and attractive water feature. We encountered varying thicknesses of undocumented fill. We were able to reduce construction costs by allowing the structures to be supported on a shallow foundation system after a careful testing program on the existing fill materials. The complex is now the headquarters of the Neurocrine Biosciences Corporation.
