Geocon is currently retained by the Los Angeles Unified School District to perform geotechnical engineering design and provide support services. As the second largest school district in America, with over 700,000 students, the District has a constant need for qualified consultants to provide geotechnical services for numerous new schools as well as upgrades to over 1,200 existing facilities. Since 2005 Geocon has performed over 40 geotechnical investigations for the District with projects ranging from additions/upgrades to existing school structures, to the design of completely new school campuses. Examples of the services provided include geotechnical investigations for new construction, upgrades, and remedial repairs to existing structures, geologic and seismic hazard evaluations, ground motion hazard analyses, earthquake fault studies, slope stability analyses, settlement analyses, as well as inspection and testing services during construction.
