I feel that Geocon deserves the lion's share of the credit for making this improbable RTL date. Yet again they demonstrate a noteworthy willingness and ability to take risks to ensure the success of their client.

Geocon has worked under Caltrans A&E and On-call environmental contracts since 1994. Services performed under these contracts include Initial Site Assessments, Preliminary Site Investigations, Remedial Feasibility Studies, asbestos and lead-containing paint structure surveys, groundwater monitoring, underground storage tank (UST) identification and removal, asbestos pipe removal and site remediation. Projects have included highway alignments, bridges, maintenance stations, rest areas and other Caltrans properties located throughout California. Services are provided under master contracts on a task order delivery basis.

Geocon responds immediately after receiving emergency work requests from Caltrans and typically is onsite within a few hours to commence work. For example, four USTs were discovered during the widening of Interstate 580. We were onsite within 30 minutes after receiving the emergency work request and removed the four USTs, including appropriate regulatory permitting and oversight, within 24 hours of initial notification. Geocon staff maintain annual Asbestos Cement Pipe Training that allows us to identify, disturb, cut, remove, and dispose of exterior asbestos pipe. This alleviates the need for Caltrans to procure a separate asbestos abatement contractor for these services.
