Mr. Brake holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in geological sciences and is a California Professional Geologist with 32 years of experience in the environmental industry. He provides environmental assessment, investigation, and remediation planning and implementation services for properties impacted by hazardous substances and/or petroleum. Jim assists clients in a wide variety of industries including urban redevelopment, open space and agricultural conservation, mining, transportation, manufacturing, waste disposal, and automotive with an emphasis on Brownfields redevelopment projects. His redevelopment projects have included railyards and railroad right-of-ways, properties in older urban commercial corridors, former industrial properties, and abandoned mines in the California Motherlode. His clients include a mix of city, county, and state governmental agencies and private developers and he strives to work closely with all project stakeholders including buyers, sellers, regulatory agencies, attorneys, lenders, investors, and other consultants.
Jim tries to spend most of his spare time outdoors with his wife and two college-age sons water skiing, snow skiing, surfing, flyfishing, and traveling. He also shapes his and his sons’ surfboards.
